{Family Lifestyle} Introducing Miss Taya Swart

I know I say this a lot, but one of my favourite things about being a photographer is sharing Life with people; Silke & JP are such people – I have photographed their engagement, wedding, preggie shoot and now the newborn shoot of their precious daughter, Taya. What a blessing!  I feel like I have loved this little girl longer than I can remember… and she is as adorable as I could possibly have imagined.  So here she is, Fearfully and Wonderfully made – Taya Swart.  Too much love for this one…

{Baby shower} Showering Amelia with love

Every so often I get to photograph a moment that’s special on a personal level.  I cannot wait to meet Amelia (in a month’s time) and know her parents are going to be great; she’s already one seriously loved little girl! Here are just a few pics from her baby shower – and was she showered with love…

Francois asks Carrie to be his Forever {Proposal}

Apparently I could survive the Hunger Games (if all I had to do was hide away in the trees and not be spotted by all those vicious teenagers with weapons) but the point is: my camo abilities are epic. Which is a good thing since I hid in the willows at Mont Rochelle this Sunday and witnessed one of my besties get engaged. What an incredible honour getting to witness Francois ask Carrie to be his Forever – and then gatecrash their picnic ( I mean share in their celebrations!?)

Thank you Francois for allowing me to share in your most special day… you did good… especially with that ring. Black diamond for the win! Wishing you both all the happiness that Forever can hold (and then some more because if you squeeze real hard you can squish some extra good stuff in…) Love you both lots xx

{Couple Lifestyle} Stephanie & Anton

One of my favourite aspects of doing couple’s shoots is getting to meet the couples and capturing something of their relationship… to date, the loveliest couples are those that laugh together.  I love seeing men just know how to bring out that smile and then the giggles from their wife/ fiancee/ girlfriend… that’s what makes them them and its so special.  Anton and Steph are those kind of people: Anton just knows what makes his wife break into laughter and enjoy the moment.  Its beautiful.

Thank you Stef & Anton for allowing me to drag you about Majik Forest (down and back up those hills…) for an hour.  You guys are awesome.

{Wedding} Inge & Niel

I promised myself I would set boundaries when it came to how many hours I spend editing photos… yeah… one look at this wedding’s results and I couldn’t help myself!  Despite the torrential downpour that prevented their outdoor ceremony, this was a breathtakingly beautiful wedding from start to finish – and possibly the calmest bride I have ever met too.  Inge, you were stunning and Niel has found himself a gem of a wife; I wish you both a lifetime of happiness together.  Thank you for trusting me with your memories xx

{Couple Shoot} Taryn & Duncan

I love how diverse Cape Town is when it comes to finding locations for photo shoots – there’s the pick of the most beautiful beaches, mountains, fynbos, forests… and then in the middle of it all: Century City.  I love this place.  The modern eco-friendly architecture blends almost effortlessly with the canals and Intaka Island. I’ve wanted to photograph a couple here for a while and was thrilled when Taryn entered my Couple Competition – Taryn and Duncan are natural models, super comfortable in front of the camera and an absolute pleasure to photograph.

Location: Century City

{Engagement} Dederika & LJ

This is definitely an e-shoot which I will never forget; I had so much fun! I’ve heard photographers speak about their “ideal couple” and I think I finally understand what they mean – Dederika and LJ were amazing and absolutely game for anything.  I love couples who are not only love eachother, but who laugh and have fun together; that’s what makes for a great shoot…

{Family Lifestyle} In the country with Team du Toit

To say I love these people is an understatement; they’ve become family. I recently spent a couple of days with them in Riebeeck’s Kasteel and yes, we did the more formal family photos in the nearby vineyards… but my favourite shots are definitely the ones taken while we just did Life: chatting on the verandah while the kids played…

{e-shoot} – Clerissa & Byron

I love this shoot for so many reasons: a gorgeous couple, beautiful venue, perfect weather,  Byron’s many expressive faces… If you haven’t heard about De Ouwe Klok function venue, do yourself a favour and check it out – its absolutely lovely and perfect for an intimate, rustic farm style wedding.  Clerissa and Byron have definitely found themselves a gem…

{Wedding: assist} 12 Apostles

I am incredibly fortunate to have Christelle Rall (uber-talented and internationally acclaimed photographer) as a mentor and when I get the chance, I love to assist her.  This stunning wedding was held at the 12 Apostles in Cape Town.  Wow, talk about classic beauty! This was most definitely a good day… so much prettiness makes my heart sing.
